We are pleased to announce the publication of the Industrial Internet Reference Architecture v 1. First published in and best known as the IIRA, this standards-based architectural template and methodology enables Industrial Internet of Things IIoT system architects to design their own systems based on a common framework and concepts.

The IIRA addresses the need for a common architecture framework to develop interoperable IIoT systems for diverse applications across a broad spectrum of industrial verticals in the public and private sectors to achieve the true promise of IIoT. Its participants represent a broad spectrum of the Industrial Internet Consortium membership including systems and software architects, business experts, security experts, and participants from many of the other Industrial Internet Consortium Working and Task Groups.

Like all Industrial Internet Consortium publications, the IIRA is a living document that is updated to reflect learnings from real-world IIoT deployments and the latest technology developments so that it not only remains relevant but also becomes more useful to IIoT practitioners.

This new version of the IIRA provides standard vocabulary definitions for the viewpoints and functional domains, and describes roles for human users. Some examples of functional components that rely upon low latency, reliable wireless communications are robots on the manufacturing floor and control units in electric power plants, wind turbines and autonomous vehicles.

In particular, we would like to thank the following authors and contributors to the IIRA including this new release:. Have questions or comments about the IIRA v 1. Email us here. This has been the underlying principle behind the Qi standard to date, and all proposed receivers needed to comply with that to received approval by WPC. But that assumption was first contested by well-known author Sanjaya Maniktala in a seminar inand shortly thereafter by Stephen Terry from Texas Instruments in Stephen Terry's presentation disappeared from the WPC website from where it was originally downloaded.

Deep Search : The traditional drug discovery pipeline is time and cost intensive. To deal with new viral outbreaks and epidemics, such as COVID, we need more rapid drug discovery processes. Generative AI models have shown promise for automating the discovery of molecules. However, many challenges still exist: Current generative frameworks are not efficient in handling design tasks with multiple discovery constraints, have limited exploratory and expansion capabilities, and require expensive model retraining to learn beyond limited training data.

We have developed advanced and robust generative frameworks that can overcome these challenges to create novel peptides, proteins, drug candidates, and materials. Our hope is that by releasing these novel molecules, the research and drug design communities can accelerate the process of identifying promising new drug candidates for coronavirus and potential similar, new outbreaks.

This work demonstrates our vision for the future of accelerated discovery, where AI researchers and pharmaceutical scientists work together to rapidly create next-generation therapeutics, aided by novel AI-powered tools. Drug Candidate Exploration : The traditional drug discovery pipeline is time and cost intensive. It contains over million sequences for both bacteria and viruses— seamlessly connecting their genomes, genes, proteins, and functional domains.

Together, these sequences describe the collective biological activity that a microbe can have and are therefore used to develop health interventions such as antivirals, vaccines, and diagnostic tests. There is growing evidence that exposure to the suicide of non-family members is associated with reduced mental health and increased suicidal behavior among those with perceptions of closeness to the decedent.

Only a handful of studies have examined the prevalence and correlates of suicide exposure among military and veteran populations, and none have examined the longitudinal experience of loss of a military colleague to suicide.

Read more. What differentiates people who die by suicide from other people? This is a key question for any clinician or professional who would like to be able to predict which people are most at risk for death by suicide. The answer has implications both for the assessment of suicidality and for its treatment. It is commonly said that suicide risk changes the closer an individual gets to attempting suicide.

Though this belief is widely accepted, it is a belief that is based on little-to-no scientific evidence. In addition to this issue, a team of researchers recently found that, overall, traditional risk factors and approaches to predicting suicide risk are little better than chance at determining who will die by suicide.

Recent research has shown a link between suicidal behaviors and poor sleep quality. Those with suicidal thoughts appear to be at greater risk for sleep disturbances, including insomnia symptoms, poor sleep quality, and nightmares.

Rebecca Bernert and Alan Schatzberg are carrying out a clinical trial testing the use of a brief behavioral sleep therapy to improve sleep and evaluate its therapeutic impact on suicide prevention. When someone dies by suicide, it can have devastating effects on the people left behind. This is particularly true in close-knit communities such as the military. Some of the survivors may even be more likely to attempt suicide themselves.

Julie Cerel is conducting a study focused on determining how many Veterans know someone who died by suicide and what their reactions are to the suicide. Two mood factors are believed to be key aspects in determining whether a person will commit suicide: thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness. To help individuals deal with these two types of feelings, Brad Schmidt has developed a new Web-based treatment program aimed at helping people recognize them and address them.

Strikingly, firearm suicides account for approximately half of all suicide deaths each year in the United States U.

Certain segments of the U. One approach that clinicians use to mitigate risk of firearm suicide is lethal means safety counseling. Although lethal means safety counseling is considered a best practice for firearm suicide prevention and suicide prevention more broadlyresearch on its acceptability and utility is remarkably underdeveloped.

Michael Anestis at the University of Southern Mississippi is testing several existing prediction models on a group of Veterans to see which are most effective at predicting the likelihood of suicide. Neuroscientists have used brain imaging techniques to learn many things about the brain but there have been few studies attempting to find brain characteristics that are associated with suicidal behavior. Thus Deborah Yurgelun-Todd of the University of Utah is now studying a group of Veterans, half of whom have a history of self-directed violence, to search for brain differences between Veterans who have attempted to hurt themselves and those who have not.
