I am in the process of rolling out unifi ap's. I am going from individual ap's with no central management to this system.

I am finding devices that should not be on our staff only SSID. I am fine if those devices are on the public SSID that i have setup because I can segment them away via the public security. I just want to ban them from our staff only SSID's. One thing you might want to consider is the guest portal for getting the guest network users to agree to the terms of service.

The potential snag there is that if you are using different vlans as we are for guests, they won't be able to see the portal unless you have one running on the guest network or route the initial traffic for the portal. Others have hosted the Unifi controller software on a VM in the cloud to solve this problem.

If you have the bandwidth and no legal concerns about open wiki, then you probably don't need the portal and the complexity. The stuff works great for the price. I would select the correct unit for your application and your good. There's no secrets on this stuff. Good Luck! I haven't tried, but I imagine it would ban them from both.

If your private key is known and it sounds like it is I would also be inclined to change the key and not hand it out to staff. Yes I am implementing a new ssid but until I get it rolled out everywhere I am doing both new and old ssid's. Yes single controller.

All the sites are connected by fiber or use VPN's to connect in. None of the sites are huge but it will be nice to some day have a better handle on what's on my network. Unifi Version 3 will be a great thing for you mid April when it comes out!

It adds some great feature for multi site management. Wouldn't this be a perfect spot to use network access control? Have user login with their credentials when they attempt to add a device to the network. That way you can see who is adding what devices. I've setup a logging Radius server in the past that allows me to see who logged in with what device. I'm really looking forward to v 3. We're doing a test deployment next week on one of our sites, and this new version looks really cool.

Unifi Version 3 works with all existing AP's in the Unifi line.Network Map feature will let you know the detail of every device using your Unifi Fibre Wifi network. Block a single website using Unifi Security Gateway?

Log In. Forgotten account? Not Now. Related Pages. U Mobile. We confirmed that it actually happened, but that it was all a misunderstanding, and Unifi did not block access to the Rainbow Six Siege game servers. The whole issue started when Ahmad Asyraf asked the official Unifi support account on Twitter helpmeunifi to check why he was unable to connect to the Rainbow Six Siege game servers on Unifi. It is a genuine Unifi support account on Twitter.

We got in touch with a Unifi Chat staff to clarify this, and she confirmed that the helpmeunifi statement was correct.

It would have been easy to stop there, and start lambasting Unifi for such a policy. But for us, their statements appear to be boilerplate replies by frontline staff members who have no idea if this is actually a technical issue, or a policy decision. So we wrote to TM by email, asking them to clarify why Unifi users are unable to access Rainbow Six Siege game servers.

If it was a technical issue, what was the problem, and when will Unifi be able to restore access? We are not restricting access to Ubisoft game servers. We are currently working on the issue with Ubisoft. We cannot give you a restoration time frame, and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

So, there you have it, everyone. Confirmation that TM did not actually block access to the Rainbow Six Siege game servers, or any game server for the matter.

As we suspected, the TM Unifi frontline support staff merely recited their boilerplate policy that they have the right to block access to content with inappropriate content. However, that is not the case with this sudden loss of connectivity to Ubisoft servers. And even more unfortunately, they cannot give anyone an idea of when they can restore connectivity…. Any help you can render is greatly appreciated! Like this: Like Loading Adrian Wong. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

This is for guest wifi access where a certain customer survey website must be blocked because there is a heavy penalty for each and every customer survey that originates from "our" ip address. This is the first time I've worked with Unifi or Ubiquiti and I'm just not finding it very easy to do.

Can someone familiar with these devices tell me in relatively basic steps how to block a website? Is it even possible? Assuming it's hosted with a single IP and doesn't float around, could you grab that IP and kill all connections from the guest network to 80 or on that IP? I don't know how fine-grained the firewall configuration options are on the Unifi systems. A second option, assuming there's a single static IP is that there's probably a second static IP available that's the carrier gateway itself.

You may be able to tweak things so that the "guest" traffic goes out that separate IP. Finally, I'd suggest asking support at the survey company to add a feature allowing your client to block access to filling the survey from the client's IP. This would avoid the problem with blocking, namely that the website would simply appear to not work at all for anyone using it from inside the office. The survey company could have a message along the lines of "Thanks for your enthusiasm!

To ensure that we get good survey results we don't allow people still at our customer's offices to fill out surveys.

Please come back to and fill out the survey after you've left our customer's offices. Markverhyden likes this. Those are good suggestions. It's basically what I've been failing to figure out how to do. The second option won't work because multiple surveys from the same IP regardless of whose throws the same red flag and penalties.

The third suggestion would really be the best, simplest and most reasonable. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just say "Here's our public IPs, please block or disregard them. In the days before CDNs were so easy it would have been simple. Not sure it'd be quite so simple anymore, if they're through Cloudfront or the like. Barcelona Well-Known Member.
